Dear gorgeous person, you!

In my fitness update blog, I promised to share all the different things I'm up to in order to keep up with this crazy lil up hill battle that I'm fighting - the battle of the so-called 'bulge'. Despite being a physio, keeping fit really doesn't come easy to me - rather unfortunately. I despise anything that makes me sweat.

Six weeks ago, I started a new job in Central London and this has really made a huge difference to my willingness to try out new things and be more loving of the great outdoors. Just as well because if you leave me to it, I will honestly be a happy couch potato!

Boxing has been my passion for as long as I can remember. As to when I first picked up a pair of boxing gloves, I couldn't possibly tell you but ever since I did, I've loved every bit of it. Admittedly, I've never had formal training, instead, I've only ever trained with a personal trainer at the gym who is good at 'combos'. For a girl though I can tell ya, I'm packing some strong ass punches.

I joined Paragon to learn about technique. I saw this amazing deal on Living Social - this awesome website that suggests things to do in London and how to get them at cheap prices. Paragon were so kindly offering an 8-week boxing package (2 x per week) for £69 when it would normally be £160 - this is still quite cheap for a boxing class as it works out to be £10 per session. Normally, I wouldn't be one to jump at an opportunity but it didn't take me long to decide. I read Paragon's amazing reviews and the way everyone was raving about it,  I immediately had no doubt I wanted to be part of it.

Meet Stuart Lawson - since 1997, he has run Paragon with his brothers Alex and Jonathan - the latter two I haven't yet had the pleasure of meeting yet but if they're anything like Stuart, I certainly can't wait. They've won so many awards and this picture below as I'm told is only a tip of the iceberg. How Stuart remains so humble, I have no idea! Check Stuart out trying to do Robert De Niro impressions ha!

The teaching here really is second to none. There is such a spirit of community and togetherness. Stuart says things like 'Everyone here is the same' and 'Leave your ego at the door'. Mutual respect is promoted throughout. You can tell he genuinely cares for the gym and the people in it.

I'm gonna be training at Paragon for the next few weeks. I really can't wait to see where my capabilities take me. It's always been a battle of mind over matter in my case and somehow, I feel I'm in the right place. I can only hope I manage to stick with it as it's a bit of an effort to get to Shoreditch a few times a week. So far so good though and I know I'm in good hands. In the meantime, I've met some amazing people and I'm enjoying making new friends whilst I'm trying to get fit.

Have you been to Paragon before? Or perhaps any amazing boxing gyms in London or otherwise? Why don't you let me know in the comments section below.

Lots of love,
xo xo
