BRIXTON VILLAGE

Hello gorgeous person - you!

Thought'd I'd keep you up to date with my weekend shenanigans!

Dad (pictured above with me) came to visit London last weekend to see his friend "Uncle Tunde" who lives in Brixton. Now to be honest, I've ever liked Brixton. Due to certain bad experiences I have had in the past whilst in the Camberwell/Brixton area, I have always thought Brixton is a bit rough! However, recently we discovered Brixton Village - almost by accident really! You walk from the main street under what seems to be like a bridge and I actually remember saying to my boyfriend 'E' the first time we went there "I don't have a good feeling about this at all". It was 11pm and I suddenly got these gruesome images in my head of people being stabbed or mugged and we were just about to turn back when we walked into what could only seem like Cool People's Heaven.

On this particular occasion, we took dad and uncle Tunde to Brixton Village Grill. I tell you what, we couldn't have made a better choice. It was a lovely afternoon filled with shed loads of people as some sort of food festival was on where people could buy a ticket which I believe cost about £15 and you could queue outside any of the eateries to get free food tasters which looked SO YUMMY!

Admittedly this wasn't to a five star restaurant standard, I wouldn't even give it a 3-star. However, the experience was absolutely amazing. We had a lovely time and gosh check out the size of my Ribs!!!! I couldn't eat it all - two out of five wasn't bad though. E helped me with the rest - as you can see him trying to hide his 'Rib bone' in the picture above - that's my Uncle Tunde next to E.

If you have been reading any of my social media posts, you would know by now that I have a massive love of Cheesecake. This Dime Bar Cheesecake was so heavenly, it was ridiculous! I literally ate half because it was so rich! 'E' had the other dessert - a Blackberry and Apple Crumble with Piri Piri Ice Cream - SO YUM!.

I'm scoring both my experiences at Brixton Village 8/10. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is a massive foodie and wants a lovely, bubbly atmosphere with some good food and don't mind South London hippies in sight!

Have you ever been to Brixton Village or somewhere similar? Please let me know what your experience is in the comments section below? Alternatively, if you would like to recommend somewhere like this, please let me know. Happy exploring!
